15 Years of Avia Maldives: Growing Alongside Maldivian Tourism

This year marks a special milestone for everyone at Avia Maldives: 15 years of serving the Maldivian aviation industry.

What began in 2011 with a single person handling roughly 150 aircraft movements a year has evolved into a 35 plus strong team of aviation professionals managing over 3,000 movements annually. Our journey has been built on hard work, trust, lasting partnerships, and above all our people.

Our 15th-anniversary theme, “Cleared for Excellence  15 Years of Precision, Passion & Partnership,” captures the values that have guided us from day one. Yet our story is also part of a much larger journey: the incredible rise of tourism and aviation across the Maldives.

Growing With the Nation

When Avia Maldives started in 2011, the country's aviation and travel landscape looked very different. Over the last 15 years, the Maldives has become one of the world's most sought-after destinations. New resorts have opened, airports have expanded, international routes have multiplied, and private charters have taken on a central role.

We have been fortunate to grow right alongside this transformation. Today, our footprint extends across Malé, Velana International Airport,  Maafaru International Airport and Gan International Airport . ensuring our team is on the ground wherever our partners need us. Apart from these airports we also operate on need only basis in Villa International Airport, Hanimaadhoo Internatinal Airport and Dhaalu Airport.

To us, flight movements are never just numbers on a board. Behind every landing and takeoff are travelers embarking on a dream trip, flight crews far from home, and local hospitality businesses ready to welcome them.

Precision Behind the Scenes

Most of our work happens away from the spotlight. Long before an aircraft touches down, our team is coordinating with airlines, operators, airport authorities, and ground service providers to ensure everything runs like clockwork.

Today, our capabilities include ground handling and supervision, GSA representation, private jet handling, VIP services, crew and passenger assistance, and 24/7 operational support. Whether it is a scheduled commercial carrier or a private charter, our goal remains the same: seamless execution.

Passengers rarely see the logistics behind their smooth arrival and that is the point. When guests step off the plane effortlessly and head straight toward their island getaway, we know our job is done.

Connecting Island Tourism

In an archipelago like the Maldives, aviation and tourism are inseparable. With islands scattered across the open ocean, nearly every international guest arrives by air before connecting to domestic flights, seaplanes, or speedboats. Reliable aviation isn't just a service; it's the lifeline of the entire visitor experience.

Over the years, we have collaborated with more than 100 operators and international airlines including US-Bangla, Beond, SCAT Airlines, Azur Air, LOT Polish Airlines, MIAT Mongolian Airlines, Azerbaijan Airlines,  Bulgaria Air, Greater Bay Airlines and Vietjet. These partnerships have taught us a vital lesson: building tourism demand only works if travelers have reliable, convenient ways to get here. We see our role as active partners in opening new routes and opportunities for the Maldives.

Elevating Private and VIP Travel

As one of the world's premier luxury destinations, the Maldives regularly welcomes travelers headed to private islands and ultra-exclusive resorts. For these guests, the luxury experience begins the moment they land.

Our VIP and private jet handling services provide a discreet, comfortable, and efficient transit through our airports. As high-end tourism continues to expand, delivering flawless private aviation services remains a core focus of our work.

Recognition Rooted in Our Team

We are honored to have earned widespread industry recognition over the years, including multiple wins at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) as a Leading Supervision Agent, consistent placement on the Corporate Maldives GOLD100 list, Excellence in Professional Services at the 2019 Maldives Business Awards, and the UAS International Trip Support award for Best Customer Service Provider in the Indian Subcontinent (2020–2021).

These honors do not belong in a trophy case; they belong to the people answering midnight calls, coordinating ramp operations in the midday sun, smoothing out unexpected delays, and looking after crews and passengers.

Celebrating our team was the heart of our 15th Anniversary Staff Gala Night on September 1 at dusitD2, where we recognized top performers and celebrated colleagues who completed advanced training this year. Avia's success is entirely theirs.

From One Person to an Industry Team

Planes and technology will continue to modernize, but aviation will always be a human business. Exceptional service comes down to well-trained people who take pride in their craft.

Developing local Maldivian aviation talent, creating career opportunities, and investing in continuous training have been the most rewarding parts of our 15-year journey. Our team's dedication is what keeps our business moving forward.

The Next Flight Path

Fifteen years in, we are just getting started.

Looking ahead, our vision is to establish Avia Maldives as a comprehensive, one-stop aviation solutions partner—with the ultimate goal of launching the first dedicated Fixed-Base Operator (FBO) in the country.

To our founders, current and former team members, airline partners, clients, airport authorities, and friends: thank you for placing your trust in us across these 15 years.

Fifteen years of passion. Fifteen years of precision. Ready for the next runway.

Avia Maldives , Cleared for Excellence.
